Plaster work and Slip casting

During 2022-2023 I shifted my practice to work with plaster and slip casting in porcelain. I created lathe turning plaster models. Some of which were then hand carved with an illustrative relief, inspired by Victorian tiles. These shapes would then be used to make a mould for repeatedly casting with porcelain slip.

Once bisqued fired, they were glazed with a tinted translucent glazes and fired to 1220 degrees celsius. The glaze was chosen to enhance the textured design, whilst enabling it to be a functional piece.
